On December 9th, UC 0079, whilst being prepared for launch, Gundam 'Alex' was attacked by the Cyclops Team. The team destroyed most of the GMs during the attack, though one managed to shoot and kill the pilot of the Hygoog, in turn allowing the shuttle with the Alex to launch

Introduced late into the OYW, at least three Cold Districts were assigned to Lieutenant Yuu Kajima's MS testing squad. They quickly proved the value of the unit by destroying several Zeon MS in defense of a Fed base, including several Hygoggs and three Doms.

Also, to ensure the survival of troops whilst they were in cold climates where stormy weathers tended to last several days, the unit has exceptional communication capabilities for a ground type MS from the One Year War.

Upgrades include increased thruster power, maneuverability and a small handful were modified to withstand harsh climates, namely cold environments, hence the name.

Known pilots of this unit include Yuu Kajima, Philip Hughes and Summona Fulis.

The unit stands at about 18 metres and weighs 58.7 tons. Its power plant is the Minovsky Ultracompact Fusion Reactor and its armour is forged from Titanium Alloy Ceramic Composite.
