Something I've thought about from multiple angles is "power level" in the series. I'm not making an anime, but it's not unique to anime. Will basing its mechanics on a game system make them more balanced or less? I wonder...

Can't speak for every group, but I feel like new abilities and spells our fellow party members gain don't get the reaction they deserve. We've all read/heard about this stuff and you mentioned it out of character so whatever.

I think that's a shame.

I'm not a fan of how jokey-silly media seems to be these days ("seems" because there ARE exceptions). Sometimes I wonder if that will make Treasure Takers come off as humorless.

Like, there WILL be humor but it won't be a comedy. (1/3)

Another old-school part of D&d I like in theory is not just getting to the dungeon but getting back with all your loot.

I say in theory because when I run my group and I just want to get to it. Series-wise it already takes FOREVER for me to animate! 1/2

Shi'era's design is one I feel LESS guilty about.

True, it's pretty typical, But it's what I want. It's in line with the shaman vibe I'm going for, and magic users wearing less makes sense to me in general. Blah blah spell failure chance, armor's heavy blah. 1/3

James is the least knowledgeable about magic in the entire party. Why people with magic can't just solve any problem seems to be the difference between competence and incompetence to him.

TREASURE TAKERS FACT:
In addition to having a knack for divination, Shi'era can also craft unique potions that can replicate the effects of certain spells even if they'd normally be beyond her ability.

TREASURE TAKERS FACT:
Having raised a child by herself, Brenna has the most practice cooking out of the entire party.

TREASURE TAKERS FACT:
Rudari's instruction on swordplay comes from several generations of family who have learned from talented sword-slingers all over the world. This unique intersection of talents is why Rudari has no trouble changing swords.

TREASURE TAKERS FACT:
James's shield bears a modified version of his family's crest. Something they were forced to adopt after a nasty defeat from which the family has never recovered.
