In the open #countryside, we came to a great pair of gates with #statues of winged #eagles atop their posts. We went up a long drive through #beautiful parkland and trees to a great #house and into a cobbled yard where the #horses’ hooves spoke to the #stones.

One day in 1594 I heard #Hamnet cry out, “Mummer! Judith!” He came to sit with us by the oak tree in the field & hugged us both excitedly. “We are not to travel to London yet! The #plague has closed the #theatres and we are to rest here in #Stratford for the good of our #health!”
Endlessly I would tug at #branches, sniff my way through the #undergrowth swiping at #butterflies with my #paws, resting after a long chase, drinking #water from a small #spring whilst #Hamnet cradled me💖
I would lie in the #meadow in the #sunlight as Judith sang a #sweet #song🎶🐻
I was growing fast. My legs seemed to have shot out to a great length and my paws increased.Methought I was a child of the #Shakespeare family but with more #fur. #Hamnet fed me mornings with milk and beaten eggs cooked in a pot,& bread and fruits from his father’s #writing room
I did as the old bear bade me, climbing up happily into the mighty tree. Near the very top of the huge trunk the branches were smaller .I began to clamber about, clinging on to the branches looking for the giant green acorns there, for the winter was coming. I ate them with joy,
“Bow before Her Majesty the Queen!”I learned that those words meant a deep and graceful bow and then I must stand upright and roar. But when the words “Now bow for the King of Spain!” were spoken did I learn to take it as an insult, turning my back and waggling my bottom .#histfic
