So it's just when I put all those thoughts and implications together I just arrive at one single answer 'Because Aya is trans girl that's why, she avoids it so heavily and the story give it so much space & distance. She isn't that person now, or maybe that person was never her.'

Like I just can't but feel some of the sensitivity and anxiety she displays over her friendship with her bandmates especially early on comes from her realizing just how much wanted or needed friends and just how much she feels uneasy over the possibility of losing any of them.
