Find this horrifying, as one who was sent away to #boardingschool. Children aged 8-11 need the stability of home & parent/s ideally, however homely the dormitories...’Boarding supports their working patterns’? I would say their working patterns should support their children

My granny, Edith, back left, with other nurses in northern France during #WW1. Her first fiancé was killed in the war. I am wearing the ring he bought for her, which my mother has left me. I wear it with love and pride.

Mum was 10 in 1933. My gran had been a nurse in northern France during WW1; here she is with recuperating soldiers at the Base Hospital near Paris-Plage. She took her new camera with her & her photos are a moving glimpse into the life of nurses behind the front line #WW1
