Today in HERstory 1892 – Alice Ball was born. She was a chemist who developed the 1st successful treatment for Hansen's disease (leprosy). Ball was also the 1st African American and the 1st woman to graduate with a MS degree in chemistry from the College of Hawaii.

Jeanne Villepreux-Power was famous in her day for an invention that allowed people to study marine life more easily! She created the 1st glass aquarium to observe the nautilus. She also designed different styles to help people study animals from different depths.
