This is not-so-new but doing something a bit different with realist like eyes using Illustrator. I’ve been doing this type of eyes since 2018 while working on Giddy Up Sis in shaded version.

Rain.

While working on Sonata Dusk as a Kirin, I have troubles with the head and what I learned is this sketch the head which is closed to the movie Rainbow Rocks. It takes time to complete this not only for this to complete but to get the mane style right.

the head was a struggle for me I have to spend two hours going around trying to make it more accurate.
