Some sketches. I really wanted to make a weird demonic rabbit at first
I never explained why I made that old icon. I find it quite boring to draw normal humans, but I feel fine drawing normal situations if I make it weird. So I started drawing these “hairy lizards”.
We are drawn to create worlds with themes of exploration. An aimless wanderer in a cloak, carrying a stick is a classic example.
To break this pattern you gotta go do some real exploration. OFF the page.

a player character is basically a mouse cursor with different rules
that's harder to do in environments with long lines running through it without making your flawed understanding obvious. then you can just make a mockup in 3D software or with everyday objects [example from @SplashteamDevs game]
