The feathery-haired collie in Gainsborough’s depiction of his dogs, Tristram and Fox, is markedly intelligent looking. Lucian Freud’s Pluto, grey and lean, is, I’d say, a canine version of Freud.
You get the picture: dogs are no random accessory, but an expression of their owner.

Lynette has recently returned to making charcoal drawings,which have a sense of immediacy given their intimate scale and air of improvisation. Seen in tandem with the paintings, the depth of the artist’s skillful handling of different media is evident.

Redon’s later works, from the late 1890s are more colourful and he experimented in mixed media and easel paintings. Redon's non-naturalistic colours inspired the Fauvists, and his use of unreal imagery and his method of arranging objects in an unreal manner anticipates Surrealism
