Roderic O'Conor (1860-1940) Romeo and Juliet (n.d.). The Roscommon native spent most of his life in France and became a truly international painter of the first rank. This piece is now coming out of a collection, and is set to sell for an estimate of half-a-million euro

Jack B. Yeats (1871-1957) The Swinford Funeral (1918). After a 1915 nervous breakdown that lasted two years Yeats began to find his form with paintings of Irish life, in an country that was changing irrevocably. He had anti-treaty political leanings; opposite to his brother W.B.

Richard Thomas Moynan (1856-1906) Woman and Child (n.d.). Moynan was born in Dublin and trained both there and on the continent, where he was a close ally of Roderic O'Conor. Worked as a political cartoonist and executed images that highlighted Dublin poverty

Mary Swanzy (1882-1978) Revolution (1942). Swanzy was born in Dublin, trained on the continent, and travelled widely. A very unique Irish painter, practicing in many styles. Her later work became dark and allegorical, many drawing on the carnage - and hell - of war.

Estella Solomons (1882-1968) Moppie Morrow (1918). Solomons was a member of one of the oldest and continuing lines of Jewish-Irish families. Trained under both Osborne and Orpen in Dublin. She was a member of Cumann na mBan, and a republican during the Irish war of Independence

Roderic O'Conor (1860-1940) The Glade (1892). An example of O'Conor's best work, this picture was executed while he was at the artist colony at Pont Aven in Brittany. Founded by Paul Gauguin the experimental 'school' moved away from the Naturalist style of the 19th century.

Walter Osborne (1859-1903) Cattle in a Meadow (n.d.). One of our favourites (as you may know) Osborne was a master of light, with a great sense of freedom in his Irish landscapes. Farm animals feature regularly, and always sit, or stand, in peace.

Roderic O'Conor (1860-1940) Red Rocks near Pont Aven (1898). The Roscommon native was specifically an international artist and one of the great influencers of the Impressionist movement. A direct descendant of the medieval kings of Connaught
