You can use clipping masks to create the illusion of depth on a 2D surface like you'd find in comics. While it's a flat image, we use the clipping mask to make it seem like this character's hair is in front of the balloon.

Something a little bit different today. From Kim & Kim #5, it was a challenge to get all of the dialogue to fit into these panels, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
