For those curious, here's the same levels, but the visuals.

For those who care, I've finally decoded the collision code in Dexter GBA. And it's as bad as I feared.

TL;DR, it uses a pixel collision, saved as a set of tiles that don't line up with the level grid. Which leads to results like this:
