Wasn't happy with this a week ago, I wanted to hurry up and finish it so I wouldn't have to look at it again but I think it's salvaged. I just have a few adjustments to make now. Amazing what a splash of red can do!

In between my oil paintings, I'm practising with charcoal - I've got a long way to go but it's a start. I'm trying the technique of blocking in the shadow areas before bringing the detail out.

Which do you prefer? I've been experimenting with different drawing mediums and so far have 2 sketches, one in charcoal and one in graphite with a spot of colour. I need your help - which one works best? € -
