Gospel: Today Jesus chases the "money changers" from the Temple precincts, an action that in the Synoptic Gospels (but not in John) precipitates his Crucifixion (Jn 2). Remember that Jesus's anger is always on behalf of someone, or something, else. His is a righteous anger.
Dear friends: Father John Giuliani, the great iconographer, has died. He was well known for his beautiful icons that depicted Christ, the Holy Family and the Trinity with Native American imagery. His art was a reminder of Christ's entrance into all humanity. May he rest in peace.
Gospel: Today on the Feast of the Holy Innocents, we read how the Holy Family fled from Herod's persecution, left their homeland and took refugee in Egypt (Mt 2). Today remember families who are migrants and refugees, and internally displaced people, like Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
Happy Easter! May the joy of the Risen Christ fill your hearts. May you know that hope is stronger than despair, love is stronger than hate, life is stronger than death and that nothing is impossible with God!
