All the elements were there, they were just in a different order. Our brilliant editor Cate suggested shuffling them around, then I revised it a bit more, and we had our final rough!

The character developed over the next few months, eventually becoming the Josh/Prince Knut you'd recognise from the book.

My first picture book, The Last Viking, turns 10 in 9 days.

The design of the main character, Josh, partly came from a bunch of random sketches I'd drawn for fun in the years before I started working on the book.
