The wing spreads of the flying avians: skimmers, divers, polar and pygmies. A pygmy's wingspan is about 1.2 meters, polars get up to 2.5 meters.
Pygmies are native to a small chain of volcanic islands in the northern hemisphere. They have the smallest population of the five species, and their standing height is only around 70cm.
Polars occupy the north pole landmass and permanent sea ice. They are the largest flying avian, standing about 125cm tall. They have relatively low sexual dimorphism and are the only species where brights are expected to directly help in rearing their own young.
Divers are spread throughout islands in the southern hemisphere, including the South Pole landmass and permanent sea ice. As their name implies they are adept swimmers, and have much denser, oily body feathers than their cousins.
Another GMH clade: Magpie Bridge was the joint project of a Chinese genetics firm and civic engineers planning an idealistic layered city. It was also a show of progress, as MB humans are both very humanoid and efficient fliers, a balance many winged designs had struggled with.
