Just turned in my entry for the Smithsonian’s Outwin portrait competition. Well, who knows? Gotta try! “The Poet is a Funnel,” a portrait of Maryland Poet Laureate Grace Cavalieri. This was painted for a 2020 show that couldn’t happen (but it was an Art Renewal Center finalist!)
Good doggos, three different vibes- from this season’s recent portrait commissions.
Feeling broken hearted and scared about where we are as a people. A feeling that has become more and more familiar over the past few years.
Scream out the old, scream in the new. “Bog Witch,” a watercolor from a couple of years ago. #GoodBye2020
One of my favorite commissioned watercolor portraits from this holiday season. The 15” x 22” size allowed me to use more of the painterliness of my personal work, and I really liked the candid reference photo with natural light from the windows behind them.
Darksome Virtual Market #blacksheepholidays is on now through Sunday so I’ll be showcasing some of my available work. Here is “Knife,” painted earlier this year- the framed original watercolor is available, as is a limited edition print.
