Two subjects is good, three subjects is better. Death itself stares directly out at us from the exact center of the piece, involving us in the scene.

Golden ratio spirals are a little over-rated, but I admit I liked using them here.

Lastly, character development!

The layout was simple: a white knight on a field of black confronts a black knight on a field of white.

Perfect divisions are static, however, so I tipped the black half of the image over, creating the impression that it's about to crush the black knight - now the underdog.
