Fun fact: It seems that turning Evil Sonic into Scourge was originally conceived in a conversation between Mike Pellerito and colorist Tito Pena. They got Spaz to make the new design. So, Ian wrote the story where this design made its debut, but the design itself wasn't his idea.

I'm an advocate of not letting silly drama shit like this ruin my experience with a wonderful comic series. BTW in the context of the story at this point, Sonic and Sally were still technically broken up, they were just friends and weren't sure if they would work out as an item.
