Here’s a comparison of the new versus the old. In the redone style Ein’s hair is straighter & she has a Melfina mullet—I really like her original spiky, unruly hair & her peach-shaped face. There’s a kind of charm to unpolished character designs in visual novels.

The dragon fruit in Fire Emblem Heroes ruined the game & the ad replacing the neighbor's travel time in Animal Crossing was so egregious that my fragments of nostalgia for these franchises were instantly obliterated because of corporate greed.

Example of generic character writing: Starting out with “Where am I?” after the opening sequence. Think about every Square Enix game.

A series can create an air of mystery without abysmal story writing. Shinsekai Yori is a positive example of a similar juxtaposition.
