Addition to my Madoka☆Magica essay: the Eastern yīnyáng example is obtuse; a Western equivalent is in the BibleーEve (Homura/yīn) learns desire from worldliness, whereas Adam (Madoka/yáng) is oblivious, untainted by the fruit. The fruit is determinism. It is an ageless paradox.

Babylon (anime): In the Bible, it says that the antichrist will come in the name of love. The Ai (愛) in Ai Magase means love. It also says in the Book of Revelation that the Whore of Babylon ‘[is] arrayed in purple and scarlet color’ーAi has purple eyes. Great series!
