Caught up with Fruits Basket (2019)!! The Funimation dub is actually good!! The only real complaint I have about the re-dub is that I preferred Aaron Dismuke as Akito Sōma, over Trina Nishimura, because Dismuke’s version of the character sounded a bit more ominous!

My boyfriend said that Makoto Shinkai films are like Taylor Swift songs. Shinkai’s fixation on star-crossed lovers is similar to Swift’s breakup ballads. He said it wasn’t that great of an idea. I think he often undervalues how spot-on he can be about these things! @SakihataLily

Has A+ seiyū, practical action sequences (the likes of which are only seen in sports series), & one character is a bear with a WWII-style machine gun! Unfortunately, its story is muddy & characters are archetypal.

They don’t always have to be written as mature, jaded, or domineering. It’s okay for characters to be immature and baby-like. Watching a character freely act childish is healing for older people that have to bury their child-self underneath the heavy burden of being an adult.

✍️ About Infantilization in Anime
Seen a lot of posts recently about people in the United States having an issue with the infantilization of women in anime. In my opinion… it isn’t much of an issue. The only real problem that I have with it is in visual novels—like Key’s Kanon.

Not a very substantive beginning: bishōjos, music, but not much else. SBR’s point of entry was contrasting Cyan’s normal life to her magical adventures. This is nullified because Howan is a native to Sound Planet.

Studio Ezo'la caught my eye after the première of Happy Sugar Life. This show isn’t as kinetic in its energy level. The underdog characters are okay, but the scripting is bad. EP#2 tanked so, I dropped it like a hot potato.

The designs are pretty BUT it doesn’t do anything for me. The heroine is a Mary Sue, the humor is cringy, & there is no chemistry between any of the cast. A shame because the seiyū & key animation in this series are B+!
