14.) Key the metal idol
one of my faves. A mix of mecha, conspiracies and "idol" (actually the idol came much later). It had interesting themes and plot, and it's unexpectedly cozy (in a gloomy way).
The pacing can be handled better. But it doesn't deter the quality too much
10.) Karura Mau series
I only watched nara onryou series. This one is p obscure elsewhere despite being the quintessential occult manga genre. It's an episodic mystery stories about 2 sisters with different powers that can exorcise demons and switch bodies
one thing I learned from this OVA is that, beware those goth gay twinks on YHVH
now where did I see this pattern
9.) Megami Tensei Tokyo Revelations
a goofy-ahh OVA from the 90s, along with all the fujobait/lesbian furry orgy/fanservice endemic to 90s OVA. It just quickly skims thru the plot (I didn't know the ninja and the little girl was a gaean). A throwback to kaneko's demons are nice
5.) Makai Tensho (a.ka ninja resurrection)
created by the same studio who made giant robo, urotsukidouji and *GASP* legend of the blue wolves. It's super edgy, bloody gory. Still insanely cool, esp when the demon dragon amakusa emerges.
WHO TF THINKS THE ANIMATIONS ARE UGLY???
4.) Armor hunter mellowlink
Fucking good shit. Truly the best VOTOMS spinoff (with nice callback, like the coliseum and kunmen episodes). I really loved mellowlink's design too
BIGGER WEAPONS
3.) Dragon's heaven
Who needs plot when you got banger mecha design, pretty moebius art style and cool world designs.
Kinda miss these eighties pet project tbh, I wonder how the manga looks like
arm foreshortening fuckin sucks I had to reference from the og animoo
