This is gonna drive me fuckin’ INSANE! I’m not even completely sure if it was a superhero show or if it’s just an episode that has superhero in it but I’m pretty sure it was in that retro futurism art style that was really popular in the late 90s and early 2000s.
I would like to add Doppelgänger to my list of Fat Shapeshifters. Along with Ursula & Amethyst. Fat shapeshifters: can choose to be any shape but choose to be fat.
don’t get me wrong, deliberate thin-ness DOES happen in animation. Even Disney has a few leading ladies who are thinner than the average princess. Giselle, Megera & 80’a Ariel being examples- I specify 80s Ariel because in her more recent iterations they’ve made her thicker.
Trend in animation that I hate: giving the plus size girl a masculine voice & mostly unappealing qualities.
There’s this one episode where Steve falls in love with a ranger from India whose working at the park via a screen & robot body but when he goes to India to meet her, he sees she’s fat, hairy & disabled & immediately bails. Like… Steve you’re no fuckin’ prize either.
Dusty isn’t JUST fat. Dusty is what we call in the biz a “Death Fatty” meaning he’s a REAL big boi. But Gina? The hot girl? Likes HIM! she thinks him & his fat body are sexy! She wants a thick king! She likes him so much he took out a restraining order on her.
I like that there isn’t just one token fat person in Farzar, there’s a few. I hate to praise Paradise PD but this was ONE THING they were good at: Fat rep. Paradise PD has a big boy in their squad & the hot chick? Is into HIM! Like… to the point where it’s a problem.
Now for the stuff I liked about the show. The designs for the creatures are great! There’s robots, aliens, mutants & monsters! All good stuff! They reference Rick & Morty a lot & I can see why because a lot of the creatures have some type of genitalia joke to them.
@thecartooncrave Hi! I’m Jess! I draw cartoons. Design characters & dabble in comics! My favorite things to draw are monsters, freaks, weirdos & social misfits! I work in digital media & traditional! 💕
It took my months to heal physically & years to heal mentally. During this time I made very few & far between art with my preferred media (photoshop) and my posting became sparse.
