Highly recommend the '#Fuseli and the Modern Woman' @TheCourtauld! Many weird & wonderful #drawings, but what most surprised me most was how he wielded texture & abstracted forms to energise the spaces around the figures
Loved the #miltonavery exhibition @royalacademy. Such deceptive simplicity! Particularly appreciated his use of under-drawing to texture thin layers of paint (eg hair in March in Brown (1954) & contours in Reclining Blonde (1959)) - stunning all around!
Enjoying the many images of my namesake Saint Catherine of Alexandria at Pinacoteca di Brera (@museobrera) and Poldi Pezzoli (@PoldiPezzoli) in Milan
Caught '#Dürer’s Journeys: Travels of a Renaissance Artist' @NationalGallery. Incredible gathering of pieces; particularly stunning to have so many of his #drawn and on-#paper masterpieces in one place!
Happy to announce that last year’s covid-postponed talk to the #LondonArtHistorySociety @ArtWorkersGuild has been rescheduled: join me online at 2pm on Mon 1 March for ‘David #Bomberg’s Lost Legacy: a master painter and his students': https://t.co/RW3qTuqPXz
A few #drawing-favourites from @AbbottandHolder's new list:
#BryanKneale's ‘#Goat I’ (1960, #ink), GSW #Malet's '#Thames at #Hammersmith' (c1930, #pencil) & #CharlesWalch's ‘Compotier’ (1946, #pencil)
Excited to see #Bomberg justly championed for an international audience: @franbig's excellent article reviewing the @BenUriGallery exhibition in @nybooks (Image: #Racehorses of 1913)... https://t.co/95aRI7UM6W
#howardhodgkin works on #paper from 1966 to 2017 to be on view 8-12 June @Sothebys #London (for upcoming auction - proceeds to both fund a complete collection his graphic work to be given to a museum
& to fund definitive #print Catalogue Raisonné)
Excited for upcoming exhibition @levygorvy 'Source and Stimulus: #Polke, #Lichtenstein, #Laing' showcasing the transnational importance of
#bendaydots [images: Lichtenstein 'Little Aloha' (1962) & Polke 'Freundinnen (1965/1966)]
