My 4yo LOVES stories about ninjas. So @CoreyPBNinja & @dsantat ‘s books were a no-brainer for his birthday. I’m not usually a fan of rhyming texts, but I stand in veritable awe of Corey’s talent for impeccable meter & unexpected rhymes. #PBCritiqueFest
DRAW THE LINE by Laurent Linn was an awesome, illustrated YA novel about a boy who likes to draw himself as a superhero. When he witnesses a hate crime, he has to decide what to do about it. This book is about the courage it takes to be yourself, & to have compassion for others.
@Jess_Keating Comics! I’ve found Gail Simone’s series DOMINO really enjoyable. Her older work is great too (Ex: RED SONJA, DEADPOOL)—I love her warped sense of humor! Or, if you’re in the mood for horror, Gail wrote a super-scary comic called CLEAN ROOM that had me peeing my pants (cw:suicide)
@pklostermann @jasminewarga @WriterJodiMoore I enthusiastically second Penny’s recommendation. Jodi’s stories and Howard’s art are FABULOUS.
I got something exciting in the mail yesterday— my first income as a writer! Hopefully I’ll be able to talk about it soon!!!
@MindyAlyseWeiss @JulieFHedlund I’m late to the party, but Congratulations!!!!!
