The Costa Rica Brook Frog has a very small population of an estimated 150 individuals or fewer, spread across a few distinct sites. Their initial decline is believed to have some relation to the chytrid fungus and habitat loss. Their population appears to be on a slow rebound.

The Masked Finfoot are Southeast Asian waterbirds. They are most at risk from river disturbance and habitat disruption. In addition, there is some concern that weather anomalies related to climate change are also contributing.

The Cuban Kite was last spotted in 2010. Population estimates are low, and because the species is only endemic to Cuba, alterations to the limited habitat can have drastic impacts. Farmers dislike them because of the belief they prey on poultry(they actually eat snails/slugs).

The Narrow-striped Mongoose, or Bokiboky, is a Madagascar native. They are threatened primarily by habitat loss and the presence of dogs(both domestic and feral) as predators. Some of its population occurs in protected areas, but this is only a small segment of its total range.

The populations of Patagonian Huemul are severely fragmented. Many of these populations exist outside of protected areas, and conservation measures in non-protected regions are practically nonexistent. These issues are causing a dangerous decline in this species.

The critically endangered Mangrove Finch is one of many specialized natives to the Galapagos Islands. Inbreeding, disease, and introduced predators are threats to this species.

The Chinese Crested Tern is a pelagic and coastal species of seabird. They are critically endangered, and estimates show a population of only about 30-50 breeding adults. Much of their decline is due to egg poaching and breeding site disturbance.

Habitat loss is the primary threat to the Salt-marsh Harvest Mouse. This little mouse inhabits tidal areas of California. Much of its habitat has been lost to disturbance and development. Though some habitat is protected, it is not believed to be enough for continued survival.
