“Rosy” 11x14, mixed media on Rives BFK. This was an experimental piece for me. I wanted to focus on tackling more dramatic light/shadow and trying to use a really saturated palette. Neither of these are my usual approaches, so I feel like I learned a lot.🤓💪🏻

Happy #NationalHotDogDay! I’m not particularly a fan of hot dogs myself, but they are fun to draw! Here’s a vegan falafel dog I did last year, alongside a more traditional one from a few years back 🌭💕 Both are mixed media on paper.

Olive oil, for the WSJ. Didn’t have a great reference for this one, so I had to draw pretty heavily from my imagination, but I think it still turned out well. This one is actually mostly watercolor with just a little bit of colored pencil development.🎨✏️👌🏻

Craving this Mexican chocolate pie from @thepieholela.😍 I painted this in 2014 after a visit to family back on the West Coast, and I’m still dreaming about going back. An entire bakery dedicated to pie is pretty much my dream.💕🍫🥧 #foodillustrator

Two very different peach pie illos — One is super stylized and done mostly from imagination, other is more realistic and done from references. I like both, but personally just love the process of working from real life, so I’ve definitely moved more in that direction.🤓🔎🍑🥧

Last of the @aquidneckland Trust signage illos — this one is a comparison between blue spruce (left) and white spruce (right). I did the call outs of the needles and cones separately so that I could work large enough to get some detail, then wove them together digitally.🌲🌲💕

Throwback to these instructional illustrations I did for @RealSimple magazine back in 2017. These were for a feature about de-stemming greens like kale or mustard.🌱 #food #Illustrator

As it turns out, most the yellow produce I’ve done are either bananas or lemons! This is kind of veering towards orange, but it’s the yellow-ist piece of produce I can find that’s not a lemon or a banana, and I’ll be moving to orange tomorrow anyways.✨⭐️💛🧡

Can’t share anything that I’m working on at the moment, so here’s one of my fav inktobers. I am still amazed at how developed I was able to get this tiny piece in only 35 minutes. Embracing constraint can make amazing things happen!💪🏻🥑
