First couple layers, and oops, you can see where I dropped my brush! Glad I'm not doing washes or watercolor!

Step 4: Adjustment layers, little details/fixes, and texture overlay(s)!
I almost never get the right amount of contrast or saturation that I'm going for, so I toss on some adjustment layers.
Nearing the end of Step 3! This is where it starts to feel like mostly details.
Decided the white was too warm, so I cooled it down a bit (I want a warm ambient light, and needed more contrast.)
I use this stage to define my 80% darkest and 80% lightest values. Eyes are good for white point and lightest value!
Step 2: clean up sketch and block in basic lighting. This will be used as an underpainting to establish value.
