@animcreepha It is for the most part, it gives sprites a much blurrier look then they should
Here's Paint Roller's sprites in both games

From the up close version, you can tell the 2nd one utilizes way too many colors for such a simple shape, whereas the 1st one is easier to read

@Lisnovski Doubt it, the spriting techniques look too similar to the GBA games, and really looks more like they stretched them up in an editing program

If the game's sprites had the same artstyle as the paintings it'd look so much better (which are actually hand drawn)

Well, since I've been in a Canvas Curse mood lately
Might as well publish Drawcia's sprite, alongside her palettes!

Drawcia is such a unique villain that deserved a much better game, hopefully we can see her shine someday again!

Compare the amount of unneeded colors Dedede has compared to Mario in SMRPG

Both look as detailed but the 2nd one uses its palette a lot more smartly than the anti-aliased mess the first one is

And yes, I've heard the comparisons with SMRPG and DKC

One thing you'll notice in those games is how smaller the palette is for them, so they look super detailed without looking antia-aliased

As well as the lack of outlines that make them blend better with the background (2/3)

Consider me a Squeak Squad stan now, lol

Also this game's environments have inspired me a ton, I think I know what I might be painting next for my fangame 👀
