While training Mareep and Shellos in the Windworks, Kirdy found his last Pokemon before he went out on his adventure. A wild Driftloon grabbed Mareep and flew it away. In a panicked state, Kirdy threw a pokeball to have it drop Mareep and it was actually captured.

In his free time, Kirdy would sneak down to the Valley Windworks and train with Shellos where he found a rare Mareep sneaking in the grass. This became his second Pokemon.

Young Kirdy caught his first Pokemon right outside of his hometown on route 205. A baby Shellos had crawled out of the river near the honey tree and bridge. The two bonded immediately.

Kirdy was born somewhere in Floaroma Town just north of Jubilife City. Due to the proximity of the big city, he was able to visit it quite often building a desire for adventure. Floaroma's huge flower fields later grew into his love of Alolan apparel.
