I wonder if this was done on purpose. The new series stars Leon & Claire again and takes place not longer after Degeneration, so it's possible.

I dunno why people keep acting like Chris has a new face every single game. He's had a very consistent appearance since 2002, and it wasn't until 2017 that he was unrecognizable.
