Nice to catch and ring a Jay and the first two juvenile Willow Tits at Wheldrake Ings this morning with @jacksonacaster, proving another year of successful breeding. It's been a good year for Willow Tits, with 32 pairs located around the #LDV with thanks to increased effort.

Whilst the @YorksWildlife Wheldrake Ings bailey bridge is being upgraded with a newer model (capable of supporting modern day machinery), we thought we’d share this historical photograph of the previous 'dutch-style' lifting bridge that used to be there! @YorksDCP @YorkBirding

It might be slightly milder today, but the feeders at the NNR base are still busy, with good numbers of Goldfinch and Tree Sparrows present this morning. There was also a surprise find in the mist net first thing – a Collared Dove - only the 5th to be ringed on the reserve.

Great to have our team of volunteers back in yesterday, it may have been chilly on the Ings but everyone was still smiling! The team made good progress with processing timber, and spent time replacing the damaged 'shelves' in Tower Hide for the @YorksWildlife on #WheldrakeIngs.

Nice reminder of the warm summer days – a Sedge Warbler ringed in the valley on the 12th July 2016, was re-caught by French ringers on the 14th August 2016, 450 km south near Brittany (Etang de Kergalan, Plovan, Finistère) @YorkBirding @_BTO

Incredibly cold morning today in the #LDV – with six calling Grey Partridge heard on North Duffield Carrs at dawn - great way to start the day @YorkBirding
