Mind you, Clark recognizing Kara as Kryptonian because they dress the same was always sketch. But that story was a product of it's time. We started off Cosmic Adventures with an echo of this, but by the end made it clear - this was Kara's story. Superman is the side kick.

This actually connects to something I'd like to see be burned away. The incessant need to reconnect new adaptations to old ones. Like shoving the Elfman Batman OST into a modern Batman film, or every Superman fortress being made of crystals... The crystals sucked from day one.
Two books I wrote a few years ago - Project Terra. An editor wanted the main character to be from the space equivalent of the inner city. I pushed back and made her come from a farming colony instead.
Also: Not enough attention is paid to the fact that He-Man murdered Grizzlor of the Horde and turned him into a fuzzy vest.
