@robertvenditti @dranj70 @Oeming @CartoonJones She’s number one, clearly.
The Italian language edition would have made my grandmother proud.
I mean, I doubt she would have read it and instead she would have talked about how everyone in the family was garbage while exhaling a huge cloud of smoke, but still…
In 2009 @CartoonJones and I conceived of a super hero epic where the heroes battled against their own reboots. It was a commentary on the corporate editorial influences on the creative process. The 8 issue series came out between 2012 and 2015.
A bit timely, turns out.
You can tell me this is all a coincidence and I won’t believe you. #GALA
We went against the grain with the book, and people mostly hated that. But I’m still more interested in exploring the implications of a consciousness struggling to maintain identity within a world of shifting perceptions than one where there are tiny people living in calculators.
When Flynn was digitized, his consciousness was stored in a in a world of 1’s and 0’s. He anthropomorphised is experience, projecting familiar forms so that he could process his reality.
Then, because he was a programmer, he started reprogramming that reality.
Another fun one is when people think they caught you in something. Like with King Rex - a Batman villain
@cartoonjones
and I created for The Brave and the Bold. Someone was incredulous because Rex means King. So his name was "King King".
And he assumed we didn't know this.
Eventually the hood that is actually a helmet gets a face? And then he renamed himself "Douchestroke"? I don't want to even know.
