Plastic flowers and foliage picked up from Cornish beaches. Not found as a single bouquet but as individual flowers and leaves gathered over decades. #MothersDay #oceanplastic #marinedebris
We often find 'sea fangles', the name given to pink sea fans tangled in marine debris. A type of coral, pink sea fans are nationally scarce and globally vulnerable. When we unravelled this one we found nine sea fans caught up in the remains of a pair of Calvin Klein swim shorts.
All kinds of everything. Toys, IV drip bags, combs, parking tickets, toothbrushes, crabbing lines, cassette tapes, film reels, mobile phones, fake flowers, flipflops and fabric. All found on Cornish beaches. Beachcombing in the Anthropocene.

An intriguing rockpool find. It was tightly folded like a Roman curse tablet when discovered. A fastener for ribbon? It seems there was a ribbon company called Royal Swan in the 40s but we're not sure how old this is.
A herbarium for the Anthropocene.
