If culture war brain rot keeps you from thinking this is sick then I dunno what to tell you, man, Anime Girl With A Sword is a tale as old as time. Sorry you can't enjoy kino
Shane Glines (whose Cartoon Retro artbook just came out btw) is another one who can get real sketch or real clean and again he's usually trying to solve for something.
Basically your marks should have purpose and not just be haphazard
like...if your line is scratchy cause you can't finish the line, that's bad. But if it's sketchy cause you're solving a problem within the context of the subject, that can be really informative!
Akihiko Yoshida his *great* at descriptive scratch marks
sketchy lines can be good though
and solid lines can be bad (so many intermediates complain about energetic sketches but stiff inks!)
it's all about using lines to expressing the form/movement
yoh yoshinari is the goat at expressive sketches that translate to hyper clean art https://t.co/6AQPmp56qT
@Vincredible_23 I really appreciate that cause I was stuck on what Betty should be for the longest time…scrapped sketches of dwarf Bettys and fairy Bettys till finally in the middle of the night I went AWWW CENTUAR 😭
