These abilities are innate. America is from a race called Fuertonas (yes, i know), a group of women who lived in an Utopian dimension disconnected from multiverse. She's said to be one of the most naturally gifted among the Fuertonas (yes, i know).

In both instances, she was considered to be the powerhouse, that is, the physically strongest member of each team. Not only is she strong, she's also super fast, invulnerable, can fly, and most importantly, open star-shaped portals to different dimensions.

America was created in 2011 by Joe Casey & Nick Dragotta in the Vengeance mini-series. She later gained popularity as member of the Young Avengers by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie in 2013.
