My last big problem is the strangest: when re-colorers digitally add new lighting effects, they constantly add throw white sheens across characters & objects. The overall effect makes it look like everything in the world is covered in a thin layer of saran wrap. It's "plastic-y"

Here's another example of that - I mean, look, everyone has such a hard-on about making Batman realistic, shouldn't we see some kind of texture on his costume, not to mention all clothing? Which looks more "real," the original ink printing on the left or the digital on the right?

Comics & Animation Discourse gets mystified by the romanticized concept of "Character Designs" - it's obviously important, but toothless without skilled artists to draw them. You can easily see deterioration of professional standards with characters who've been around for decades
