@JacobOvrick First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🎉🎂🎈
Here are some of my recent and favorite pieces at the time. I enjoy drawing my favorite rascals, Vale and Matrix, and also I'm working on making all Crash Bandicoot designs as real bandicoots.
So I was working on a new commission prices chart, and ended up drawing Vale because of course I did.
@PTierra50 And then, there's the lighting.
Keep in mind that not every surface will reflect light the same way.
Wood will not have a strong light reflection like steel or plastic.
In this case, the light reflection will be focused on the hair. Any other light should be weaker.
@PTierra50 Now, let's work with the projected shadows. When an object projects a shadow over another surface, it's not usually blurred. It's more solid (It can get blurry according to the distance and lighting, but that's too advanced, let's keep it simple)...
@PTierra50 Keep in mind that not every shadow or light is blurred, so I don't recommend using an airbrush for everything, but you definitely should use it for the base shadows of the surface, to give it a 3D look.
@PTierra50 Okay, so, first of all, establish a light source. You can see a light reflection in the eyes coming from the upper right corner, so let's work with that. I like to draw a small sun sometimes as a reference.
Draw the shadows on the opposite side.
Hey, I just realized I have a pretty colorful artstyle.
But I had to look everywhere to find some character variety beyond my usual 2 or 3 OCs...
