Aw I found this early Somnus sketches. The first take had a full wolverinesque mask, the rest pretty much survived.

Hey #PortfolioDay 👋
Luciano Vecchio, comic book, vertical scroll and cover artist, sometimes writer too ✨
And hey, being from Latinoamérica, with English as a second language, the idea of writing for Marvel was just off the table for most of my life. So this vote of confidence and the fact that it actually happened, is a whole achievement in its own.
But of course I wasn’t alone, I had my editors @MightyBrunstad and Anita Okoye, and I couldn’t be more grateful. It felt like having the best teachers pushing me to develop and polish my skills in ways I didn’t know I could. I learned and grew so much through it thanks to them.
The creative process was new. Getting an assignment. Researching his backstory while figuring out what I had to say and offer. Putting together a pitch (that kept most elements into the final work!), correcting, drawing, adjusting dialogues. I was “in the zone” from the start.
I had questions about Iceman and tried to provide organic in-story answers. Why his power and importance is a constant flux. Why he can be sweet but sometimes brutal. How does he live his intimate bonds now. How do we get out of the writing trap of an overpowered character.
While composing an overarch for the series themes. So what is it about? It’s about Iceman. A love letter to his history, an exploration of his present, and a proposal of what his future can be. I wouldn’t save ideas for later, if it was my only chance to write, I’d give my all.
