@arnab_factory @_ragegun @StevanVaughn @im_scared_of_it @Lune_Attic @jamieagatharose @BeesFall I mean, if you're into the manga/anime scene at all, they also poke fun at character design by recruiting artists and asking them to redraw modern anime/manga in a particular style for fun. They did this on 2channel with a panel from an old manga (https://t.co/ynQ3OnoqiS). 2/2
@arnab_factory @_ragegun @StevanVaughn @im_scared_of_it @Lune_Attic @jamieagatharose @BeesFall People DO complain about it. Japanese anime/manga fans make fun of repetitive character design all the time and often say that you can figure out almost exactly when something originated based on the art style because it changes dramatically in roughly ten year cycles or so. 1/2
@Lune_Attic @im_scared_of_it @_ragegun @BeesFall Yeah, it's a fun exercise. 🙂 What bothers me is that a lot of what we're discussing is Cartooning 101. When drawing a sincere smile, the edges of the mouth and eyes are raised, the eyes narrow a bit and the mouth assumes a crescent moon shape. Meilin's face lacks these elements.
I'm reminded of how far comics have fallen by writing like this. There's NO WAY you could jokingly compare PMS with lycanthropy these days without someone yelling bloody murder and calling for your head. 😅
Weird thought: With all the hoopla around the history of female video game protagonists, isn't it strange that "K.O. Katy", the mother kangaroo from Sunsoft's 1982 arcade game "Kangaroo" is rarely mentioned? 🤔
