Yesterday marked the 60th anniversary of the terrible fire in Cheapside St Glasgow in which 19 brave firemen lost their lives. At least the current crisis has made us all more appreciative of all the people who enable us to enjoy the courtesies of decent and safe lives.

Happy St Patrick's Day! Two related coats of arms: the first is the former St Patrick's High School, Coatbridge, which recorded in 1960, and the second is Hibernian Football Club of 2001.

On this day 200 years ago, Walter Scott of Abbotsford was granted arms. He petitioned again two years later on being granted a baronetcy by King George IV.

On the 7th February the Lord Lyon attended as Patron the A.G.M. of the Association of Scottish Genealogists and Researcher in Archives held at the Dome in New Register House. It was reported that the Association had a successful year.

The Lord Lyon proposed the toast to the Immortal Memory of Robert Burns at the Annual Burns Supper of Fraserburgh Burns Club which was founded in 1928.

In 1988 a coat of arms very similar to the Bard's design was recorded by the Burns Federation. "Argent, a holly bush and in chief a club and stock-and-horn saltireways all Proper." and for crest: "A woodlark perching on a sprig of bay tree Proper."
