We note with sorrow the death of Sir Sean Connery, granted arms by Lyon Morrow.

The Royal Celtic Society which celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2019 held its AGM today by Zoom. The Lord Lyon attended as one of the Society’s Vice Presidents. The Princess Royal is the Patron and Alan Hay continues as the Chair.

The funeral service for Sir Malcolm Innes of Edingight, Lord Lyon from 1981-2001, took place at his home at Kinnairdy in Banffshire, followed by burial in Marnoch graveyard on Saturday 3rd October. R.I.P.

The Lord Lyon at the invitation of the Cupar Development Trust attended a Zoom Presentation by Bill Pagan the chair of the trust to launch the new Arrival and Interpretive Signage for the town. The project demonstrates civic pride and promotes the life of Cupar.

It is with great sadness that we hear of the death of Sir Malcolm Rognvald Innes of Edingight KCVO WS (born 25 May 1938), Orkney Herald Extraordinary, who was Lord Lyon King of Arms from 1981 until 2001. We send our deepest condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

Another Lyon Office anniversary: on September 8th 1898, Francis Grant, later Sir Francis Grant, became Rothesay Herald.

The Lord Lyon has today granted a badge to the Honorary Vexillogist. The painting is by the current holder of the post, Philip Tibbetts, pending the re-opening of the Lyon Office.
