#OTD in 1865, the Massachusetts 55th Volunteer Regiment marched into liberated Charleston, South Carolina singing John Brown's Body. The 55th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry was the 2nd military organization composed of men of African descent to be raised in MA.
