@kim50cb @Plymouth_Harbor @ericfisher @sarahwroblewski @TimNBCBoston @weatherchannel @AMHQ @StephanieAbrams @NWSBoston @Pamelanbcboston Yes! Cape Breton has a history of white sharks from the infamous Fourchu white shark that rammed a fishing dory in July 1953, which was featured in #JAWS, to numerous tagged sharks that have detected off the Island, like Jamison, Jenna and Keelie. #GreatWhiteNorth
@VickySharky @sharkager @GregSkomal @SharkAdvocates @SulikowskiLab @MassDFG @SharkTrustUK @NEAQ @lostsharksguy @BritFinucci It's from the old childhood classic 'The Adventures of Peter Rabbit-fish'. I'm surprised you haven't heard of it. 😉Feel free to share. #HappyEaster #SharksNearMe
@TheBirdist Do you have wood ducks yet? There are a couole in the pond in my brothers backyard.
Ok here’s the reveal...it was a pair of red breasted mergansers. Did you spot them? Thanks for playing!
Quiz time: I took this photo from Manomet Point in Plymouth MA today. I know the photo isn’t great but I had to act fast to catch this species swimming by.
What do you see? @crwinsor @bostonbirdfest
@LisaWBZ @BostonSeaRovers @MassDFG @MassDMF @ChipHHI @BigWaveTV @GregSkomal @SharkWeek @RodneyFoxShark @MegalodonWinton @ericfisher When we last saw Curly in September 2012 we estimated she was 18-19’. Photos don’t really do justice to how big she was but spotter pilot Wayne Davis has an aerial shot that might give you an idea. She’s the Queen of the Atlantic and I’m made a limerick just for her.
Currently watching a pair of Harlequin ducks north of Manomet Point in Plymouth. They’re tough to see since they’re constantly diving or hiding behind the waves but thanks to the zoom on my Canon SX60 I was able to show few people that were unable to spot them. @crwinsor
9 years ago today this 17' white shark and another not pictured were accidentally caught in a gillnet off the coast of Cape Cod. Although most white sharks are headed south by this time of year there are always some stragglers. So🏄♂️ don't let your guard down, stay #SharkSmart.
