I've always been a big ishigaki fan and Homura(the lead mech) is one of his best designs. The idea behind a Karakuri based mech is really original and how he's portrayed within the show is very cool and believable.

plus he just looks really sick.

At it's very core, Senki is about a group of kids on a adventure to fight off the wind clan eventually involving the west and technology.

The focus on the kids and their Mecha felt reminiscent of Vifam and Eldran and is as good as those 2 series for different reasons.

Hiwou Senki is unlike any mech show I've seen with it being focused on Karakuri(clockwork) mecha set during Japan's meiji period. It's a very cool and inspired idea for a mech series and I really gotta give bones credit for doing something truly original.
