As for the Newgrounds style argument, that site is responsible for some of the most diverse animators and styles on the internet. Like with the Calarts argument, how do any of these look remotely the same?
I've always liked the design quirk of characters who use anything but their arms to grab most things.

Shoutout to @DeedeeMagnoHall for doing a fantastic job at playing every Pearl on Steven Universe and making each one's voice and inflections so unique that each one is a distinct performance. Really hoping she gets more voicework because of Steven Universe, she has a great range.
