There's only a couple of examples I can think of this actually working.

One being Zim. It works because the whole world is aggressively crazy and mean spirited. It makes sense that nobody would believe Dib.

When a character knows another character's evil, no one else believes them or listens when they try to explain. Everyone shits on the character until the last possible second, making everyone in the show look like a piece of shit.
