This core set stood out from many before it as it not only had new card designs but entirely new keywords too.
Alongside the 1st double-face Planeswalker cards, it added the Renown & Menace keywords + the 'Spell mastery' ability

This weekend marks 11yrs since MTG's NEW PHYREXIA expansion officially launched!
The set added a new type of mana cost to the game: Phyrexian mana. Φ
This special mana cost had its own set of symbols & could be payed with either that respective color of mana OR by paying 2 life
15yrs ago today, MTG players glimpsed the future of the game at FUTURE SIGHT prereleases across the world.
Along with the unconventional "futureshifted" card frame & other mechanics, the set debuted of some of Magic's now-most familiar keyword terms—Deathtouch, Lifelink & Reach!
recently saw that AMBASSADOR OAK was called "Moose & Squirrel" during playtesting—a Rocky & Bullwinkle reference—and was a Moose creature that entered the battlefield with a Squirrel token. 🦌🐿️
Now all I want is a version that is flavored as originally designed.
