In the Cornish tale The Mermaid of Zennor a mysterious lady visits a church where she enchants everyone with her voice. She falls in love with the best singer. They disappear. The lady was a mermaid and it's thought that the couple lived happily ever after.

In Flemish tales porridge with garlic seems to have special powers. A servant who could shapeshift into a horse was chased away by serving him this delicacy. Also chased away were devils working on farms. They took good luck with them and the farm was doomed.

In a Flemish tale a fisherman stumbles upon six newborn, abandoned swans. He takes them with him and they change into skulls. He returns the skulls to where he found them and they transform back into swans. The man had only bad luck since that day.
